The Step-By-Step Assessment Process with Dr. Williams

Complete the Pre-Assessment Form. Once your form is received, you will be called to schedule a brief consultation with Dr. Williams to ensure the services offered are appropriate for your assessment needs. If a good fit is determined this call will also be a time to schedule your Intake Interview and the day(s) and time of your evaluation. A confirmation notice of the day(s) and time of your intake and evaluation will be emailed to you, which will include a link to any online measures that must be completed between your consult and intake.

During the intake (virtual or in-person), Dr. Williams will review the assessment process, gather relevant information about your background and history, and confirm the day(s) and time of your evaluation if different than the day of your intake appointment.

Assessment administration can take a roughly 5 to 7 hours in length and is typically scheduled for one full day or two half-days. Time of assessment administration and number of days scheduled can vary based on your assessment needs and will be clarified at the time of scheduling. Assessment administrations are conducted one-on-one with Dr. Williams at Midtown Psychotherapy Associates, Atlanta location.

The results of your assessment are typically available within eight to ten weeks after the evaluation date. This timeline is a rough estimate that is subject to change with case-specific demands and office closures. Dr. Williams will contact you to schedule a “feedback session,” during which you will receive your results.

Once feedback is delivered and your report is signed by Dr. Courtney Williams and Psychologist Dr. Kia Silva (supervisor), you will be provided with a copy of your assessment report, which will include interpretation of results, diagnostic impressions (If Applicable), and recommendations. Receipt of report occurs typically occurs on or after the date of your feedback session.

Dr. Williams offers psychological assessment for college students, adolescents aged 16 and older, and other adults who may be experiencing difficulties due to a learning disorder (LD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disability (ID), Autism (ASD), and other mental health difficulties (e.g., depression, anxiety, bipolar, autism, etc.) that may negatively affect academic, vocational, interpersonal, or life functioning.

What assessment services are offered by Dr. Williams?
While a particular diagnosis is not guaranteed, completing psychological assessment with Dr. Williams helps individuals to gain clarity about affected areas of functioning or complex internal experiences that cannot be determined without the use of validated, properly administered assessment instruments. Based on assessment results, Dr. Williams provides evidence-based recommendations that provide a way forward, enhance affected areas of functioning, promote psychological well-being, and create a tangible plan for reducing inner turmoil.

How does assessment with Dr. Williams help me or my loved one?
To ensure timely feedback of your results and minimize delays, it is recommended that you prepare to attend all scheduled appointments at least 15-minutes early, complete all required paperwork in a timely manner, and gather relevant information to bring with you to your first assessment appointment.
Because a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism, or a LD require documentation of difficulties in childhood, it is important that you gather any relevant information, such as report cards, prior evaluations, or high school transcripts if you have them. Should this information be hard to obtain for any reason, Dr. Williams will work with you to gain the most clarity without these materials.
If you are currently taking medication to treat ADHD symptoms, you should take your regular dose of this medication on the days of your assessment.

How do I prepare for assessment with Dr. Williams?
Can Dr. Williams help me obtain accommodations for standardized testing?

Standardized tests such as the GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, etc., may require additional measures for students to be considered for accommodations. Such cases may result in additional evaluation time and cost. Please consult with Dr. Courtney Williams for specific information regarding these test batteries.
The code of ethics for psychologists and state laws protect your confidentiality. This means assessment results are only released to the person assessed if over the age of 17 or their identified guardian if the person assessed is a minor. Assessment results will not be released by Dr. Williams to any other entity or persons without written permission to release this information from the person assessed if they are over the age of 17 or from their identified guardian if they are a minor.
